Meditation isn’t
what you think.
It has nothing to
do with the contents of your thoughts. Meditation is where your brain waves are
when you are having those thoughts.
A person doesn’t
need to have a calm, quiet, mind to achieve the healing, regenerative and
perception expanding benefits of meditation.

Meditation Heals:
According to the medical staff of the Mayo Clinic, medical
research has demonstrated that regular meditation has improved the following
conditions:
Allergies
Anxiety
Arthritis
Asthma
Cancer
Chronic pain
Depression
High blood pressure
Heart disease
Above it all meditation provides inner peace while you
practice, which continues on long after the practice is over. A combined study of Yale, Harvard and
MIT universities demonstrated that regular meditation actually develops new
brain neurons and functioning.
This new generation may occur in as little as twelve weeks.
Meditation is a skill anyone can learn:
Our common conception of meditation is monks sitting quietly
contemplating a calm still mind. These monks are to meditation as Beckham is to
soccer: very gifted professionals. The rest of us just have fun knocking the
ball of consciouness around getting some great exercise.
We don’t have to become monks to get fantastic benefit from
meditation. But we do have to be better than just randomly knocking the ball
around hoping we’ll get good at it. Meditation, like any exercise, takes
practice and coaching to know what to do.
Meditation is a naturally occurring state of mind:
Everyday we move in and out of the brain wave states that we
call meditation. In fact our sleep is technically meditation. What makes
meditation different from sleep is lucidity, clearness of mind, and the ever
presence of self.
Let’s say you’re sitting in a classroom and begin to
daydream about walking in the park. As long as you are aware that you are
sitting in the classroom and not in the park, and you are observing the park
and your actions, you are meditating. Your body is relaxing, regenerating and
healing. The second you forget where you are, who you are, stop observing, and
begin to participate, then you are asleep.
The secrets of meditation are to relax and pay attention:
Our brains are moving us into meditation many times per day.
But while that’s happening
we are usually lost in a daydream, or some other distracting
stimulation, not paying attention to our body or the world around us. We’re
poised for relaxation but forget to do it. The difference between being lucid
and asleep, in both life and meditation, is not getting absorbed by the
distractions. We have to pay attention to ourselves and our bodies or we will
lose them both. We have to learn to stay awake and that is what our training is
about.
Meditation is easier than you think:
Although the concept of daily meditation may seem daunting
and unobtainable to you, the immediate reduction in stress, pain, and improved
peace of mind are reason enough to try.
At White Willow we make the introduction and use of
meditation absolutely effortless.
At White Willow we have two complimentary programs of
meditation:
Tai Chi Student Program
incorporating:
Mind/body integration meditation
Qigong meditation (using breath,
sound and movement)
Progressive relaxation and
visualization
Moving meditation through Tai Chi
Mindfulness
Hemi-sync
Meditation for enrolled Tai Chi students and non-students:
Utilizing sound wave technology
and guided instructions to directly train the brain how to enter into relaxed
states of expanded awareness and recall them at will.
Hemi-sync for the mind on the run:
The Tai Chi program incorporates meditation practice in the
Level One program and the SoundBody workshops. The Hemi-sync Meditation program
is for everyone, especially for those who have problems with busy minds.
Hemi-sync is a sound technology created by Robert Monroe
that helps people learn and control states of relaxation and consciousness
recalling them any time they need it. The good news is that all you have to do
is lay down and just listen. Your mind can run but it cannot hide. In the
hemi-sync exercises you actually engage your mind with personal growth task such
as releasing fears and patterning your thoughts to achieve the life you design.
In time, if you chose, you can explore beyond the limits of time and space.
Hemi-sync Meditation Program
Our basic program is to introduce you to the beginning
exercises and locales of consciousness of the Hemi-sync system. Students meet once a week for eight sessions to receive
instruction in theory, experience the exercises, and debrief with experienced
trainers. The exercises are drawn from the home study Gateway Experience Waves of Change and are facilitated by former Monroe Insititude trainers: Connie and Vince Lasorso. Connie and Vince each
have over twenty years experience in teaching the Hemi-sync technology.
The Gateway Experience albums and other Hemi-sync materials are available to purchase at our store. Students can then practice at home by just listening to anyone of the Hemi-sync music or guided exercises in an effortless stress free manner. However, with very little practice, and no support materials, a person can immediately recall the relaxing states of mind at anytime throughout the day.
